Poltrona Frau Archibald Gran Comfort

The Archibald Gran Comfort armchair stands on a frame with four steel feet connected by a surrounding frame with a ruthenium finish. The seat structure is made of beech, while the backrest structure is made of steel with all-round padding and elastic straps for suspension. The shaped upper part of the backrest is made of flexible rubber. Both structures are lacquered with scratch-resistant black paint. The seat suspension is provided by elastic straps. The padding of the seat and backrest consists of two moulded polyurethane foam cushions attached to the metal structure with Velcro strips. An additional goose down cushion, also secured with Velcro strips, lies over the other cushions. The outer cover of the Archibald Gran Comfort is available in Pelle Frau® leather Safari or a selection of Poltrona Frau fabrics and is removable in both versions. In the leather variant, the edges are finished with hand-dyed leather in a matching colour. The stitching can be either tone-on-tone or contrasting. In the fabric variant, the stitching is tone-on-tone. The Archibald Gran Comfort pouf shares the technical characteristics of the armchair. This model is based on the iconic Archibald chair, which won the Wallpaper* Award in the "Best Domestic Design" category in 2009. Jean-Marie Massaud has reinterpreted the stylistic elements of the original model, creating another popular and characteristic model in the Poltrona Frau catalogue. In designing the Archibald Gran Comfort armchair, Jean-Marie Massaud imagined a soft, padded pouch draping generously over a slender metal architecture with a steel frame and feet. The result is an inviting, refined contrast of volumes and materials that quickly became a symbol of contemporary elegance. This armchair is also distinguished by its special technical features. All main components are designed to be easily disassembled: a metal shell, a soft goose down cushion and the outer cover, joined together by layering. This allows the leather and fabric to be attached to the structure using removable Velcro strips, concealed in the area of contact with the frame. This solution makes the product more practical and sustainable, as it can be easily dismantled at the end of its life cycle.
