Zanotta Calamo

Calamo is not an old-fashioned desk with drawers overflowing with paper, but an essential piece of furniture, in both function and appearance, something that could fit anywhere in the home. The collection includes a new furnishing accessory designed by the young designer Gabriele Rosa: the Calamo desk-console table. With a white, black or graphite steel structure and a Pigmentato cowhide covering for the surface, plus storage space under the hinged lid. The desk undoubtedly retains great appeal in the collective memory, and Calamo's aim is to make the proportions and forms lighter to meet the demands of a contemporary audience, as the designer explains: 'For this reason I decided to reduce the size, to use a light frame with a very thin top and to add a storage space, which is the distinctive feature of this project and is made entirely of cowhide. This space can be used for tablets, keys and coins, or for keeping a fountain pen and a diary, for those who are nostalgic and prefer not to share their thoughts with the web.'
