GUBI BASKET sofa, 3-seater
The name "Basket" honours the classic hand-weaving technique used in rattan basketry. The collection comprises a three-seater sofa, a two-seater sofa and a lounge chair, all of which share the same construction. Instead of the inner fibreglass shell that Colombo originally used, the core of each piece now consists of a more environmentally friendly steel framework, which provides strength and stability for the distinctive form. This is covered with a hand-woven rattan skin made of interwoven strips and oval rods, a technique that requires an enormous degree of skill and craftsmanship to create.
