The “Basket” collection pays tribute to the timeless craft of hand-weaving in rattan basketry. This versatile collection comprises a three-seater sofa, a two-seater sofa and a lounge chair, all of which share a common structure. Instead of Colombo’s original use of an inner fibreglass shell, the core of each piece now consists of a more environmentally friendly steel framework that ensures both strength and stability while preserving the distinctive form. The elaborate outer skin is carefully hand-woven from rattan using braided strips and oval rods - a demanding craft that demonstrates exceptional skill and artistry.
