B&B Italia Butterfly

The name Butterfly refers to the butterfly shape of the outer connection between armrest and backrest. These modular seats ideally meet the need for combinability and comfort, as they allow free and independent use. The modular structure is based on a stool, the basic element, which – complemented by a backrest and/or armrest – becomes a centre section or a right or left end section. These various elements are assembled using a simple connection system that offers versatile combinations of any kind: straight or corner seating groups, as well as vis-à-vis or lounge configurations. A characteristic feature of this first fabric sofa in the B&B Italia Outdoor collection is its generous, curved forms. For the fully upholstered sofa, the company has developed production technologies that incorporate special solutions and materials for outdoor use. In this way, the high standards of comfort that apply to indoor furniture can now also be guaranteed outdoors. The sculptural quality of the cover and the soft forms of Butterfly testify to the highest comfort. Thanks to this aspect and its modular structure, the system is the ideal solution for the most varied applications, from hospitality to yachting. In addition, there is a range of complementary furniture perfectly integrated into the seating elements, enabling numerous design solutions and suiting a variety of interior requirements. The lines of the Butterfly complementary furniture are matched to the shape of the sofa and adapt harmoniously to the upper part of the seat. They consist of round, square and rectangular sofa tables and a side table. A characteristic feature is a graphic macro-weave of twisted polyethylene fibres in dove grey, spanning the grey lacquered aluminium frame. The tops of the complementary furniture are offered in two finishes: white Statuarietto marble from Carrara or wooden slats of heat-treated ash.
