Designed in 1997 by Morten Gøttler, the MG501 Cuba Chair captures contemporary design with its ideal balance of Shape and function, recalling earlier masters who also worked on refining the folding chair concept. Altogether, it wonderfully embodies the concept of complex simplicity. The MG501 Cuba Chair thus stands for everything Gøttler became known for: his clear, light aesthetic and considered Shape, along with designs offering exquisite comfort and great attention to detail — all crafted from high-quality materials.
In this version (MG501C), the seat and Backrest are made of natural paper cord instead of cotton webbing. The Frame in solid oak is available soap-treated or oiled; the manufacturer does not offer a black lacquered version for the cord edition. The Cuba Chair is also available with cotton webbing in natural or black (MG501W, as a separate product, also available there with a black lacquered Frame), as well as in an outdoor version with weather-resistant synthetic Weave.
