Carl Hansen CH445 Wing Chair
Hans J. Wegner's CH445 chair, also known as the Wing Chair, is a fully upholstered easy chair based on a stainless steel Frame. With its striking lines and comfortable seating, the chair is a perfect example of how Wegner believed a high-back chair should look. Beneath the Upholstery sits a solid beech Frame, which gives the chair strength and durability. The precise Shape and density of the Upholstery are carefully chosen so that the chair supports every part of the Body well. The seat and Backrest are designed so that the back, shoulders, neck and head are comfortably supported in different sitting positions. The front Legs of the slender, round stainless steel Frame lean slightly forward, while the rear Legs angle backwards, so that the chair does not tip despite its reclined position. Four small, cone-shaped steel elements connect the upper part of the chair to the Frame. A steel foot is fitted to each leg to prevent the chair from slipping. The Wing Chair was designed in 1960, but only a few examples were produced. Carl Hansen & Søn reissued the chair in 2006. For added comfort, the CH445 Wing Chair is available with the matching CH446 footstool.
The CH445 has a slender, round stainless steel Frame; beneath the Upholstery sits a solid beech Frame. The seat and Backrest are fully upholstered. The Cover can be chosen from eight fabric categories and three leather categories; no wood Version is available for this model. The CH446 footstool is a matching companion piece to the CH445.
