more VOLTA extending table
VOLTA is uncompromisingly linear — yet it lives from one detail: the mitred legs, which merge into the frame without a visible joint. It was designed by Bernhard Müller.
The table top is a continuous, glued-board solid wood top. Two centimetres of solid wood sit on a frame construction that gives the top a visible edge of 8.5 cm — unusually strong for a table of this restraint, and the reason why VOLTA looks calm even in long lengths. The frame is also solid wood, with a foot size of 8.5 x 8.5 cm and a knee clearance height of 66 cm.
The surfaces are available oiled and waxed or matt lacquered, in 20 wood tones of oak, ash, smoked oak and American walnut. Other woods, sizes, widths and tones available on request.
"For us, most beautiful in 100% walnut." — more
The extending table takes 60 cm extension leaves, which according to the manufacturer can also be folded out individually. With one leaf the table grows by 60 cm, with two leaves by 120 cm, with three leaves by 180 cm — turning 300 cm into a table length of 480 cm. So that the extension leaves match the table top, the grain runs crosswise to the long edge.
The manufacturer notes: with three extension leaves, slight sagging of the table cannot be avoided. This version is also only available in 105 cm width and from 250 cm length.
