JAKU places a continuous solid wood top on a ceramic base. The oval top has no edge where the shape breaks — it runs seamlessly all the way round, and the table can be seated from all sides. Especially at long lengths up to 400 cm, this takes the heaviness out of the table.
The base consists of three ceramic pieces measuring 30, 16 and 23 cm in width, held by a frame of anthracite powder-coated steel. They are not positioned at the corners but drawn together at the centre of the table — so no one sits over a leg at the ends. The ceramic is available in Bronze or Anthracite, both at no extra cost.
The top is plank-glued and 2.8 cm thick, with a surface that is either oiled and waxed or matt lacquered, depending on the wood tone. Eight standard shades in oak and ash are available, along with eleven special oak shades including smoked oak, as well as American walnut.
