THONET swivel chair • Programme S 55 DRW Evo
A comfortable, elegant all-rounder based on the cantilever construction principle. With its continuous seat shell it offers the highest comfort, is formally clear in design and made in the best Thonet quality. Its range of use extends from conference and meeting rooms, through training and seminar rooms, to the living area. The model is made in two different backrest heights, as a swivel chair variant and also in a stackable version.
The S 55 PFDRW Evo swivel chair takes the fully upholstered Evo shell made of moulded plywood with lumbar support and mounts it on a five-star swivel base with castors and a tilt mechanism. The swivel base is aluminium powder-coated in deep black, polished at extra cost; chrome-plated castors are also available. The height is infinitely adjustable (82–95 cm), the seat height in the lowest position is 40 cm. The cover is worked with either a simple seam or a French seam, and the armrest pads are made of elastomer plastic, available in nappa leather at extra cost.

Full upholstery: With full upholstery, the seat shell is covered all around with fabric or leather, including on the reverse side. The wood surface is then no longer visible. This gives the chair a softer, calmer and more homely look than mirror upholstery.
Lumbar support: The lumbar support is a targeted shaping of the backrest at the level of the lumbar vertebrae. It supports the lower back exactly where it has its natural curve, relieving it during prolonged sitting – without the need for additional technology or adjustments.
Elastomer plastic: Elastomers are plastics that retain their shape but yield slightly under pressure. Thonet uses them for the armrests: they feel pleasantly warm to the touch – unlike bare metal – give a little when leaned on, and are very resistant to daily use.
