Solid and light at the same time, understated yet present: the Thonet table 1140, designed by Werner Aisslinger as a "community hub", stands out for its functionality, versatility and elegant simplicity. Its defining features are the table legs in solid oak, rounded on the outside in a quarter-circle, and the intelligent, discreetly visible connecting elements at the corners of the table top. This makes the top appear to almost float. Thanks to this clever construction, even chairs with armrests can be pushed under the extremely robust and stable table. Besides the aesthetic effect, the rounded outer edges of the table legs bring two clear advantages: sitting close together, no one knocks against a corner, and when four or more tables are combined into a larger table arrangement, cables can be routed downwards through the middle of the arrangement. Thanks to the reduced use of materials and the use of certified wood, the table also scores well in terms of sustainability. The 1140 is an absolute all-rounder, suitable as a dining or work table at home as well as in the contract sector – from new-work contexts and coworking spaces to gastronomy and hospitality, libraries and seminar rooms.
The THONET 1140 table stands on a four-leg frame of solid oak, with the legs rounded on the outside in a quarter-circle. The 42 mm thick slatted top is veneered, has rounded corners and a veneered edge. Visible connectors at the corners hold the top and frame together; they are available either in polished aluminium or black-grey to RAL 7021. Plastic glides are included. The table is 75 cm high and available in four table top sizes from 100 x 100 to 240 x 100 cm.
