THONET cantilever chair, stackable, with armrests • S 56 ST Evo range
A comfortable, elegant all-rounder based on the cantilever construction principle. With its continuous seat shell, it offers the highest comfort, is clear in its formal design and made in the finest Thonet quality. Its range of use extends from conference and meeting rooms, through training and seminar rooms, to the living area. The model is made in two different backrest heights, as a swivel chair variant and also in a stackable version.
The S 56 PFST Evo cantilever chair is the fully upholstered Evo version of the range: its shell is made of moulded plywood, has a lumbar support and is upholstered all round, with a choice of simple seam or French seam. The frame is made of chrome-plated tubular steel, the armrests of elastomer plastic, optionally with nappa leather at extra cost. It is 94 cm high, the seat height is 47 cm and the armrest height 67 cm. The chairs are stackable. Images show the non-stackable version; on the stackable model, the frame is slightly bent inwards at the front bottom. POM plastic glides and felt glides are available at extra cost.

Full upholstery: With full upholstery, the seat shell is covered all round with fabric or leather, including the back. The wood surface is then no longer visible. This makes the chair appear softer, calmer and more homely than with mirror upholstery.
Lumbar support: The lumbar support is a targeted shaping of the backrest at the height of the lumbar vertebrae. It supports the lower back exactly where it has its natural curve, relieving it during prolonged sitting – without the need for additional mechanisms or adjustments.
Elastomer plastic: Elastomers are plastics that retain their shape but yield slightly under pressure. Thonet uses them for the armrests: they feel pleasantly warm to the touch – unlike bare metal – give a little when leant on, and are highly resistant to everyday wear.
