THONET swivel armchair • S 56 DRW Evo range
A comfortable, elegant all-rounder based on the cantilever construction principle. With its continuous seat shell it offers the highest comfort, is formally clear in design and made in the finest Thonet quality. Its range of use extends from conference and meeting rooms, through training and seminar rooms, to the living area. The model is made in two different backrest heights, as a swivel chair variant and also in a stackable version.
The S 56 PFDRW Evo swivel armchair takes the fully upholstered Evo shell in moulded plywood with lordosis support and mounts it on a five-star swivel base with castors and a tilt mechanism. The swivel base is deep black powder-coated aluminium, polished at an extra charge; chrome-plated castors are also available. The height is infinitely adjustable (87 - 100 cm); the seat height in the lowest position is 40 cm. The cover is worked with either a simple seam or a French seam, and the armrest pads are made of elastomer plastic, available in nappa leather at an extra charge.

Full upholstery: With full upholstery, the seat shell is covered all around with fabric or leather, including the back. The wood surface is then no longer visible. This makes the chair appear softer, calmer and more homely than in the mirror-upholstered version.
Lordosis support: The lordosis support is a targeted shaping of the backrest at the height of the lumbar vertebrae. It supports the lower back exactly where it has its natural curve, relieving it during prolonged sitting – without the need for additional mechanisms or adjustments.
Elastomer plastic: Elastomers are plastics that retain their shape but yield slightly under pressure. Thonet uses them for the armrest pads: they feel pleasantly warm to the touch – unlike bare metal –, give a little when leaned on, and are highly resistant to daily use.
