THONET Chair • Programme S 160 F
Elegant, comfortable and available in a wide range of versions: Programme S 160 was developed for furnishing event spaces, canteens and residential-style contract areas. The chairs stack tightly (up to 17 chairs) and feature a connecting mechanism that links them together easily, securely, space-savingly and without tools (Thonet patent). With a low or high back and various upholstery options, the S 160 offers a broad range of applications. A variant with wooden chair legs (160) turns the popular multi-purpose chair into a residential-style chair for contract use, for example in cafés with a homely interior. There is also a delicate and particularly comfortable bar stool (S 160 H) for the hospitality sector and for working at high tables.
The THONET S 160 F chair stands on a chrome-plated four-legged frame made of tubular steel and has a seat shell made of polypropylene; the armrests are made of elastomer plastic. It is available unupholstered or with mirror-upholstered seat. It is stackable and can be linked in rows, meaning it can be connected into chair rows without tools. Plastic glides are included as standard; felt glides are available for an additional charge.

Mirror upholstery
With mirror upholstery, only the inner side is upholstered – precisely the area where you sit and lean back. The rear of the seat shell remains visible in wood or plastic. This keeps the chair light and delicate while still noticeably improving seating comfort.
Elastomer plastic
Elastomers are plastics that retain their shape but yield slightly under pressure. Thonet uses them for the armrests: they feel pleasantly warm to the touch – unlike bare metal – give a little when leaned on, and are very resistant to everyday use.
Row connection
Chairs that can be linked in rows can be joined side by side into fixed chair rows without tools. This is required wherever large numbers of people sit together: in halls, churches, canteens or conference rooms. The Thonet connection is patented and meets the DIN EN 14703 standard for row seating, including panic safety – in an emergency, the row can be cleared quickly and safely.
