THONET Chair • Programme S 160
Elegant, comfortable and available in a variety of versions: Programme S 160 was developed for furnishing event venues, canteens and residential-style contract spaces. The chairs can be stacked closely (up to 17 units) and feature a connecting mechanism that links them together simply, securely, space-savingly and without tools (Thonet patent). With a low or high back and various upholstery options, S 160 offers a broad range of applications. A variant with wooden chair legs (160) turns the popular multi-purpose chair into a residential-style chair for contract use, for example in cosily furnished cafés. There is also a filigree and particularly comfortable bar stool (S 160 H) for the hospitality sector and for working at high tables.
The THONET S 160 chair stands on a chrome-plated four-legged frame made of tubular steel and carries a seat shell made of polypropylene. It is offered in an unupholstered version and with mirror upholstery on the seat. It is stackable and can be linked in rows, meaning chairs can be joined into rows without tools. Plastic glides are included as standard; felt glides are available for an additional charge.

Mirror upholstery: With mirror upholstery, only the inner side is upholstered – precisely the area where you sit and lean back. The back of the seat shell remains visible in wood or plastic. This keeps the chair light and filigree while noticeably improving seating comfort.
Row connection: Chairs that can be linked in rows can be joined side by side into fixed rows without tools. This is required wherever large numbers of people sit together: in halls, churches, canteens or conference rooms. The Thonet connector is patented and meets the DIN EN 14703 standard for row seating, including panic-release safety – in an emergency, the row can be cleared quickly and safely.
