Ethnicraft ALETA counter stool - Morpho by Tomorrowland
ALETA counter stool - Morpho by Tomorrowland
The Aleta counter stool translates the delicate shape of a dragonfly's wing into a seat: “Aleta” is Spanish for “little wing”, and that is exactly how the narrow, widely curved back arch reads — light, mobile and precisely balanced.
The slim silhouette and the fine curves take the weight out of the seat height. Despite its filigree appearance the stool stands safely and steadily; the encircling metal ring serves as a footrest and visually ties the frame together.
Aleta belongs to the Morpho by Tomorrowland collection, designed by the Tomorrowland Design Studio in collaboration with the architect Dieter Vander Velpen. The collection combines contemporary design with the organic spirit of Art nouveau — from the fine structure of the dragonfly's wing to the curves of roots and branches.
At the kitchen island, at the bar or in a hospitality setting the Aleta sets a calm, sculptural accent and, thanks to its upholstered seat, stays comfortable through long evenings.
Material
The Aleta counter stool is made from lacquered dark brown teak or from lacquered oak, combined with brass- or bronze-coloured metal. The solid wood is lacquered and brushed — the slightly rougher surface brings out the grain and gives the wood depth. The seat is built up with high-density PU foam and covered in chenille, velvet or leather.
