At a time when digital devices threaten to dominate interpersonal communication, the Sideways Sofa offers an equally modern counterpoint for personal conversation – and, of course, for relaxing. Made in Denmark to a design by the award-winning Danish designer Rikke Frost, this unconventional sofa abandons the traditional forward-facing seating position and allows those seated to turn sideways towards each other and talk. The Sideways Sofa combines classic materials – wood, paper cord and high-quality upholstery textiles – with a modern, asymmetric shape. The steam-bent Backrest frame is formed from solid wood and fitted at the back with woven paper cord, creating a light, elegant look. The seat surface and Backrest are upholstered for optimal seating comfort. The result is a sofa you'll want to sit in for a long time.
The RF1903 is available in seven versions: soaped oak, lacquered, oiled, white oiled or black lacquered oak, as well as lacquered or oiled walnut. The cover can be chosen from eight fabric groups; leather is not available for this model. The paper cord is natural-coloured. The sofa is available in a left-hand and a right-hand version – both cost the same. The RF1903F stool is a matching piece for this sofa.
