Carl Hansen CH825 Credenza
Hans J. Wegner designed the CH825 in 1959, together with a whole series of sideboards that, thanks to their understated, calm appearance and practical internal layout, remain sought-after pieces at auction many years later. One of these sideboards, the CH825 Credenza, was reintroduced by Carl Hansen & Søn in 2014 to mark Wegner's 100th birthday. Sliding the two roller doors on the Wegner CH825 sideboard sideways behind the inner panelling gives full access to the interior. When closed, however, the doors form a smooth, continuous veneer surface with a vertical grain. The handle is a wood panel mounted perpendicular to the door, recessed into a thin, square steel plate that is in turn set into the solid front edge of the door. Inside Wegner's sideboard is a combination of shelves and drawers offering versatile storage. The interior is divided into three sections: the two outer sections each have two shelves, while the middle section has four drawers. The position of the shelves can be adjusted as needed. Choose the sideboard either with round solid wood legs, which match almost all Wegner chairs and tables, or with a base frame of bent flat steel, as also used in the CH100 Series.
The CH825's carcass is veneered on the outside and always made of solid oak on the inside. It is available in oiled oak, white oiled oak and oiled walnut; the frame is available in either stainless steel or solid wood — with the wood frame, the wooden legs always match the wood type of the carcass.
