Carl Hansen PK52A Student Desk
The PK52A Student Desk was designed by Poul Kjærholm for the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, where he himself was a member of the academic staff at the time. The cleverly constructed desk highlights Kjærholm's unmistakable ability to combine traditional craftsmanship with industrial design. Its plain form embodies the lightness and geometric elegance for which Kjærholm became known. His pioneering role in designs such as the PK52A Student Desk was instrumental in bringing Danish design to worldwide attention. The PK52A is also available in a larger version as the PK52 Professor Desk. Both desks can readily be used as dining tables, as their table tops are reversible, so each side can serve its own purpose. The desks also feature an optional drawer as an attractive storage solution.
The PK52A has a frame of black powder-coated steel and a table top in 3D veneer that can be used from either side, with or without the drawer module. The table top is available in four versions: oiled oak, white oiled, black lacquered or clear lacquered. The PK115 drawer module, in solid wood and veneer, is available at extra cost in the same versions.
