The CH23 Dining Chair was one of the first chairs Hans J. Wegner designed exclusively for Carl Hansen & Søn, in 1950. The furniture he created at that time was not only unique but also set new standards for modern furniture design with its artistic expression and ergonomic Shape. Although the CH23 Dining Chair may appear straightforward at first glance, it is crafted with many fine, refined details, including the elegant cross-shaped cover caps in the Backrest, the double-woven seat, and the curved rear Legs, which provide optimal stability. Carl Hansen & Søn reintroduced the CH23 in 2017, once again making Wegner's early masterpieces part of the collection. As always, the design remains faithful to Wegner's original, hand-drawn sketches, with all aesthetic and structural components intact.
The CH23 has a solid Wood Frame, a hand-woven seat made of paper cord, and a Backrest made of veneer. The Frame is available in soap-treated, clear-lacquered, oiled, white-oiled or black oak, in clear-lacquered or oiled walnut, and in the oak/walnut combination, clear-lacquered or oiled — oak/walnut means that the chair Frame and cover cap are made of oak, while the Backrest is made of walnut. The paper cord is available in natural or black. As an accessory, Carl Hansen & Søn offers a Seat cushion in leather group A, exclusively in Loke 7050, Loke 7150 or Loke 7748.
