The PH 5 ceiling lamp by Louis Poulsen was designed by Poul Henningsen in 1958 in response to the constantly changing shapes and sizes of light bulbs. The aim was to create a luminaire that harmonised with every light source. The distinctive design of the PH 5 is based on the proven principles of Henningsen's system of three reflecting shades. These provide a soft, pleasant and glare-free light and make it the ideal choice for the dining room. The PH 5 is available in various colour variants and enjoys great popularity worldwide as a well-known pendant light found in many homes.

Lighting concept
The PH 5 ceiling lamp by Louis Poulsen emits a soft, glare-free light based on Poul Henningsen's reflecting three-shade system. This system directs most of the light downwards while also allowing lateral distribution, so that the luminaire illuminates itself and a pleasant glow is created at its centre. To ensure that the downward light is completely glare-free, the lower shade has a diffuser of frosted glass.
