The CH327 dining table by Hans J. Wegner from 1962 is a good example of how creativity combined with excellent craftsmanship can lead to an unusual, interesting design. The CH327 is a solid wood dining table with soft edges and rounded legs that taper towards the floor. The grain of the wood follows the length of the table top, which is carried by three different rails. Below the rails, there is a side rail on each side that continues along the length of the table. There is a gap between the side rail and the table top, creating the impression that the table top is floating. At each end there are two removable legs connected by a cross strut. The legs and struts provide stability in the transverse direction, while the side rails provide stability along the length. The side rails are higher and set closer together at the table legs to increase legroom when seated. The CH327 is available in two lengths: 190 cm for six people and 248 cm for eight people. Both tables can be extended at each end with a 40 cm wide extension leaf, increasing the number of seats to ten and twelve. The elegant CH327 table by Wegner is suitable both as a dining table and as a conference table. It can equally well be used as a desk.
The CH327 has a solid wood table top and frame and is made in two sizes: 190 × 95 cm and 248 × 95 cm. Both sizes are available in twelve versions: soaped, oiled or lacquered beech, soaped, oiled, white-oiled or lacquered oak, oiled or lacquered walnut, oiled or lacquered oak/walnut, and oiled oak/teak. Oak/walnut is a mixed version with a walnut table top and an oak frame; oak/teak, correspondingly, has a teak table top with an oak frame. The MDF extension leaves in grey or black are inserted at the ends and ordered separately – one or two per table.
