GUBI Semi

Experience the uniqueness of the Semi pendant light, based on two quarter-circles arranged back to back. Its distinctive, arched, enamelled metal shade produces a diffuse, cone-shaped light that is ideal above a dining table or kitchen worktop. With its light form, timeless design and variety of colours and sizes, the Semi pendant is extremely versatile and perfectly suited to private and public spaces. The Semi pendant was designed in 1968 by Claus Bonderup and Torsten Thorup as part of their creative partnership. In response to the soft organic forms then prevailing in Denmark – the so-called cosy era – Bonderup and Thorup wanted to create a lamp that integrated clean lines and a geometric form. Their design was entered in a competition at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture, and won first prize. In the 1980s the pendant achieved great success, becoming the best-selling Danish design of its time and gaining worldwide recognition and iconic status.
