Walter Knoll Muud Sofa

A feel-good island for urban and also smaller floor plans: the Muud sofa combines soft upholstery, soft cushions and an airy look. The récamiere can be freely swivelled across the floor, enabling different seating and reclining positions. With the specially developed Dream Cushion filled with down, the sofa corner can be made soft yet stable. Reading in the morning, relaxing in the evening, or spontaneously hosting guests – with just a few adjustments the sofa changes its geometry, turning from a comfortable sofa into a guest bed.

The designers at EOOS rethought every element of a sofa for their design. The aim was to create a light, airy yet comfortable design using as little material as possible. Over several years, the construction was refined, functions optimised and the upholstery redesigned. The result is a versatile sofa and a new favourite spot – freestanding in the room or as a cosy nook.

The matching Dream Cushion was also rethought and adds further possibilities for comfort and variation to the sofa. The decorative cushion with soft feather filling is ideally positioned over the corner. Combined with a further cushion, it provides pleasant support when sitting and reclining. An upholstered seat completes the generous reclining surface.

• Note: the cover's construction is deliberately adapted to the soft, relaxed upholstery surface. A certain amount of wrinkling in the cover is intended and not a quality defect
• Loose back cushions, comfort cushions and decorative cushions should be shaken and plumped daily so the loose filling materials redistribute and no chamber outlines become visible
• Note: with the Aurene, Ruban, Savannah, Selene and Tapis fabrics, irregularities in the seam details may occur

With add-on récamieres (with swivel function), the seat surface beneath the backrest can be swivelled by 90 degrees. By adding the upholstered seat, a generous seating and reclining surface is created.

Cold foam: cold foam is a high-quality, shape-retentive upholstery foam characterised by its exceptional elasticity and recovery. It adapts pleasantly to the body without losing its shape. In high-quality upholstered furniture, cold foam ensures precise, comfortable and durably shape-retentive seating. After being under load, the material quickly returns to its original shape – resulting in fewer permanent seating impressions, with the upholstery retaining its characteristic shape.

Note: the selection of leather hides is carried out by specialists according to strict specifications and high inspection standards. Leather naturally has both soft and firm sections of hide, which may also be processed side by side. It stretches through body heat and moisture during use. This results, to a certain extent, in waves and creases (so-called seating impressions). Favourite seating spots show this particularly clearly. This settling process is largely complete after a few weeks. Further stretching is minimal and inconspicuous. Depending on the tanning method, colouring and surface treatment, leather initially has a material-typical smell. This noticeably diminishes over the course of a few weeks and can be accelerated by airing the room. Walter Knoll processes several leather hides for one upholstered suite (between five and seven). No hide is the same as another. Insect bites, small injuries from fences, or marks from fighting leave small scars on the cattle hide, which can be rediscovered in the leather. Fattening folds are a sign of the animal's health and good nutrition. These material-typical characteristics do not affect the quality of the leather furniture. Differences in sheen, colour and texture within a single hide and between the cut pieces of a cover are likewise characteristic and typical of leather furniture.
