Beautiful, functional and flexible: Living Platform combines a reduced formal language with thoughtful comfort that feels coherent on both a rational and an emotional level. As a seating piece, a daybed for a short rest, or a guest bed with a comfortable lying surface, Living Platform adapts to different everyday situations. On Living Platform you can sit and lie in various directions. With just a few movements, the seat surface becomes a bed and the armrest becomes a backrest.

Behind this is a refined yet intuitive mechanism: one armrest can easily be folded up and the small back cushion in front of it stood up. Alternatively, the back cushions are moved aside and the seat surface pulled forward. This enlarges the surface, and in no time the seating piece becomes a generous lying surface — for leaning back, relaxing and putting your legs up.

The particular refinement of Living Platform is also visible and tangible in the details. High-quality leather and skilfully executed seams, such as the stitched piping, underline the careful workmanship. The steel base frame is likewise an expression of exceptional craftsmanship and development work: as if cast in one piece, the rectangular profile transitions elegantly into the round steel tube.

Living Platform is entirely in keeping with modernity and the spirit of the times: light, clear and reduced to the essentials. Upholstery is found exactly where it is needed, while the frame remains as delicate as possible. The result is as much seating comfort as necessary, with as little material as possible — a durable piece of furniture, both in its design and in the quality of its materials.

For the design, the designers of EOOS closely observed everyday rituals and studied how people live with and on a sofa. Living Platform is guided by natural habits and different living situations. The design not only follows the shape but also supports, through sensible functions, the way people move, sit and relax.

Cold foam: Cold foam is a high-quality, dimensionally stable upholstery foam distinguished by its particular elasticity and resilience. It conforms comfortably to the body without losing its shape. In high-quality upholstered furniture, cold foam ensures precise, comfortable and lastingly shape-stable seating. After being under load, the material quickly returns to its original shape — resulting in fewer permanent seating impressions, so the upholstery retains its characteristic shape.

Note: Leather hides are selected by specialists according to strict specifications and high inspection standards. Leather naturally has soft and firm areas of hide, which may also be processed alongside one another. It stretches through body heat and moisture during use. This results, to a certain extent, in waves and creases (so-called seating impressions). Favourite seating spots show this particularly clearly. This adjustment process is largely complete after a few weeks. Further stretching is minimal and unobtrusive. Depending on the tanning method, dyeing and surface treatment, leather initially has a smell typical of the material. This noticeably diminishes over the course of a few weeks and can be accelerated by airing the room. For one upholstered seating group, Walter Knoll processes several hides (between five and seven). No hide is identical to another. Insect bites, small injuries from fences, or marks from fighting leave small scars on the cattle hide, which can be rediscovered in the leather. Fattening folds are a sign of the animal's health and good nutrition. These material-typical characteristics do not impair the quality of the leather furniture. Differences in sheen, colour and texture within a single hide and between the cut pieces of a cover are likewise characteristic and typical of leather furniture.
