Beautiful, functional and flexible: Living Platform combines a reduced design language with thoughtful comfort that feels coherent on both a rational and an emotional level. As a seating piece, a daybed for a quick rest, or a guest bed with a comfortable lying surface, Living Platform adapts to different everyday situations. On Living Platform you can sit and lie in various directions. With just a few movements, the seat surface becomes a bed and the armrest becomes a backrest.

Behind this lies a refined yet intuitive mechanism: one armrest can be easily folded up and the small back cushion in front of it stood upright. Alternatively, the back cushions are moved aside and the seat surface pulled forward. This enlarges the surface, and in no time the seating piece becomes a generous lying surface – for leaning back, relaxing and putting your feet up.

The particular refinement of Living Platform is also visible and tangible in the details. High-quality leather and artfully executed seams, such as the quilted piping, underline the careful workmanship. The steel frame, too, is an expression of exceptional craftsmanship and development work: as if cast in one piece, the rectangular profile elegantly merges into the round steel tube.

Living Platform embodies modernity and the spirit of the times: light, clear and reduced to the essentials. Upholstery is found exactly where it is needed, and the frame remains as slender as possible. This creates as much seating comfort as necessary while using as little material as possible. The result is a long-lasting piece of furniture, both in its design and in the quality of its materials.

For the design, the designers at EOOS closely observed everyday rituals and studied how people live with and on a sofa. Living Platform is guided by natural habits and different life situations. The design not only follows form but supports, through meaningful functions, the way people move, sit and relax.

Cold foam: Cold foam is a high-quality, dimensionally stable upholstery foam characterised by its particular elasticity and resilience. It adapts pleasantly to the body without losing its shape. In high-quality upholstered furniture, cold foam ensures precise, comfortable and consistently shape-retaining seating. After being under load, the material quickly returns to its original shape – this results in fewer permanent seat impressions, and the upholstery retains its characteristic form.

Note: Leather hides are selected by specialists according to strict criteria and high standards. Leather naturally has softer and firmer areas of hide, which may also be processed side by side. It stretches through body heat and moisture during use. This results, to a certain extent, in waves and creases (so-called seat impressions). Favourite seating spots show this particularly clearly. This adaptation process is largely complete after a few weeks. Further stretching is minimal and unobtrusive. Depending on the tanning method, dyeing and surface treatment, leather initially has a typical material odour. This noticeably fades over the course of a few weeks and can be accelerated by airing. For one upholstered set, Walter Knoll processes several leather hides (between five and seven). No hide is like another. Insect bites, small injuries from fences or marks from fighting leave small scars on the cattle hide, which you may rediscover in the leather. Growth folds are a sign of the animal's health and good nutrition. These material-typical characteristics do not affect the quality of the leather furniture. Differences in sheen, colour and texture within a single hide and between the cut pieces of a cover are likewise characteristic and typical of leather furniture.
