When the Walter Knoll team designed the small armchair in 1957, they likely had convivial aperitifs and stimulating conversations in the salon in mind. The 1950s in Germany were shaped by a sense of new beginnings, joie de vivre and economic growth. Growing prosperity and a modern, progressive way of life defined the spirit of the era.
With its timeless shape, the 375 armchair preserves the charm of this era while fitting naturally into modern residential and hospitality settings.

Cold foam
Cold foam is a high-quality, dimensionally stable upholstery foam distinguished by its elasticity and resilience. It adapts comfortably to the body without losing its shape. In high-quality upholstered furniture, cold foam ensures precise, comfortable and durably shape-stable seating. After being compressed, the material quickly returns to its original shape, resulting in fewer permanent seat impressions, so the cushion retains its characteristic shape.
Leather
Leather hides are selected by specialists according to strict criteria and high quality standards. Leather naturally contains both soft and firm areas of skin, which may also be processed alongside one another. It stretches with body heat and moisture during use, which to some extent creates waves and creases (so-called seat impressions). Favourite seating spots show this particularly clearly. This adjustment process is largely complete after a few weeks; further stretching is minimal and barely noticeable. Depending on the tanning method, dyeing and surface treatment, leather initially has a characteristic smell, which fades noticeably over a few weeks and can be reduced faster by airing the room. For one upholstered suite, Walter Knoll processes several leather hides (between five and seven) - no two hides are alike. Insect bites, minor injuries from fences or marks from fighting leave small scars on the cowhide, which you may rediscover in the leather. Feeding folds are a sign of the animal's health and good nutrition. These material-typical characteristics do not affect the quality of the leather furniture. Variations in sheen, colour and texture within a single hide and between the cut pieces of a cover are likewise characteristic and typical of leather furniture.
