THONET Stool • S 411 H Programme
The outstanding qualities of this chair are elegance, timelessness and high seating comfort, along with a lightness that only a cantilever model can offer. While the first tubular steel chairs of the 1920s were barely upholstered, the Thonet catalogue of 1935 already featured an entire series of generously upholstered armchairs and sofas. The Thonet in-house design of the S 411, dating from 1932, presumably marks the start of this new product line. Today it is made with high-quality pocket-spring upholstery, and a matching footstool is available.
The S 411 H is the footstool of the programme. It has a fully upholstered seat shell on a chrome-plated tubular steel frame, with piping encased in the cover material; on Nubuck leather the seam is finished as a contrasting flat-felled seam, while on natural Nappa leather it is finished as a contrasting double topstitching. At 38 cm high and 51 cm deep, the stool weighs 7 kg. The frame is also available powder-coated for an additional charge. Cantilever models are supplied without glides as standard; POM plastic glides or felt glides are available for an additional charge. It belongs to the S 411 and S 412 cantilever chairs.

Full upholstery: With full upholstery, the seat shell is covered all round with fabric or leather, including the back, so the wood surface is no longer visible. This gives the chair a softer, calmer and more homely look than the mirror-upholstered version.
