The outstanding qualities of this chair are elegance, timelessness and a high level of seating comfort. Added to this is a lightness only found in a cantilever model. While the first tubular steel chairs from the 1920s had barely any upholstery, the 1935 Thonet catalogue already featured an entire range of voluminously upholstered armchairs and sofas. The Thonet in-house design of the S 411 from 1932 is thought to mark the beginning of this new product line. Today it is made with high-quality pocket-spring upholstery. A matching footstool is also available.
The S 411 H is the footstool of the programme. A fully upholstered seat rests on a chrome-plated tubular steel frame, with piping encased in the cover material; for nubuck leather the seam is finished as a colour-contrasted bound seam, while for natural nappa leather it is finished as a colour-contrasted double top-stitched seam. At 38 cm high and 51 cm deep, the stool weighs 7 kg. The frame is also available powder-coated at extra cost; cantilever models are supplied without glides as standard, with POM plastic or felt glides available at extra cost. It belongs to the S 411 and S 412 cantilever chairs.

Full upholstery: With full upholstery, the seat shell is covered all round with fabric or leather, including the back. The wood surface is then no longer visible. This gives the chair a softer, calmer and more homely look than the mirror-polished version.
