THONET chair Steel tube chair • S 360 range
Used thousands of times over and proven successful under the toughest conditions: these chairs are found in exhibition halls, event venues, museums, churches, town halls and canteens. They meet every requirement for mass seating: they are stackable, easy to link together, low-maintenance and highly comfortable. What makes them special is the intelligent row-connection system (a Thonet patent). The frames interlock without any additional parts. This system offers two economic advantages: the comfortable seat width of 58 cm has a row pitch of only 53 cm. This means more chairs fit into a given area, and handling is so simple that set-up and take-down times are significantly reduced.
The THONET S 360 is a stackable, linkable steel tube chair with a seat and back in polypropylene. The chrome-plated four-legged Frame carries Armrests in elastomer plastic. Plastic Glides are included, with felt Glides available at extra cost. The chair is available unupholstered, with mirror Upholstery on the seat, or with mirror Upholstery on both seat and back. For the upholstered versions, a moisture-protection film for the seat is available at extra cost. With a moulded plywood Seat shell, the same chair is offered in the range as the S 361.

Mirror upholstery: With mirror upholstery, only the inner side is upholstered – precisely the area where you sit and lean back. The reverse of the seat shell remains visible in wood or plastic. This keeps the chair light and slender while still noticeably improving seating comfort.
Elastomer plastic: Elastomers are plastics that retain their shape but yield slightly under pressure. Thonet uses them for the armrests: they feel pleasantly warm to the touch – unlike bare metal – give a little when you lean on them, and are highly resistant to daily use.
Row connection: Linkable chairs can be joined side by side into fixed rows without tools. This is required wherever large numbers of people sit together: in halls, churches, canteens or conference rooms. The Thonet connection is patented and meets DIN EN 14703, the standard for row seating including panic-release safety – in an emergency, the row can be cleared quickly and safely.
