Elegant, comfortable and available in a wide range of versions: Programme S 160 was developed for furnishing event spaces, canteens and residential-style contract areas. The chairs can be stacked closely (up to 17 units) and feature a connecting mechanism that links them together simply, securely, space-savingly and without tools (Thonet patent). With a low or high back and various upholstery options, S 160 offers a broad range of applications. A variant with wooden chair legs (160) turns the popular high-volume chair into a residential-style chair for contract use, for example in cafés with a homely interior. There is also a delicate and particularly comfortable bar stool (S 160 H) for the hospitality sector and for working at high tables.
The THONET S 162 chair stands on a chrome-plated four-legged frame made of tubular steel and carries a shell made of moulded plywood. It is offered unupholstered, with mirror upholstery on the seat, mirror upholstery on seat and back, or fully upholstered. It is stackable and can be linked in rows, meaning chairs can be connected into rows without tools. Plastic glides are included as standard; felt glides are available for an extra charge, as are further stain shades of Beech II.

Mirror upholstery: With mirror upholstery, only the inside is upholstered – precisely the area where you sit and lean back. The back of the seat shell remains visible in wood or plastic. This keeps the chair light and delicate while still noticeably improving seating comfort.
Full upholstery: With full upholstery, the seat shell is covered all round with fabric or leather, including the back. The wood surface is then no longer visible. This gives the chair a softer, calmer and more homely appearance than the mirror-upholstered version.
Row connection: Chairs that can be linked in rows can be joined side by side into fixed rows of seating without tools. This is required wherever large numbers of people sit together: in halls, churches, canteens or conference rooms. The Thonet connector is patented and meets the DIN EN 14703 standard for row seating, including panic-release safety – in an emergency, the row can be cleared quickly and safely.
