Soft geometries with an echo of the West Coast — the Redondo collection by Patricia Urquiola for Moroso
In Redondo, designed by Patricia Urquiola, form, comfort and memory merge into a harmonious whole. The collection comprises generous seating whose design consists of two volumes placed side by side and a softly upholstered seat shell that flows around the cushions. The curved lines, free of hard edges, emphasise the sensuous character of the design. The soft fabric with its padded, quilted surface is enlivened by fine, graphic seams — lines that appear as if drawn with a pencil and that create elegant three-dimensional geometries. Redondo is an homage to the upholstered interiors of American automobiles of the 1950s and 1960s — to the soft forms, the feeling of freedom and the comfort of the long drive along the American West Coast.
It is a piece of furniture that tells stories - a place where everyday life unfolds in calm and lightness. The internal structure consists of flame-retardant cold foam and polyester wadding with a steel frame for stability. The feet are polypropylene, and the removable cover shows the characteristic quilting designed by Patricia Urquiola - a detail that unites function and emotion.
