The light falls mainly downwards; the opal glass provides cosy, even illumination of the surroundings.
Design: Vilhelm Lauritzen
About the designer: Vilhelm Lauritzen (1894–1984) is regarded as a pioneer of functionalism in Denmark. His best-known buildings include the Radiohuset (1936–41), for which he also designed the lamps, and the first terminal at Copenhagen Airport Kastrup (1937–39). His lamps combine direct light with soft, diffused light; they have been part of the Louis Poulsen collection since the mid-1940s.
Material and finish: shades of mouth-blown, three-layered, glossy white opal glass; arm and wall box of satin, untreated brass (develops a patina).
Installation and operation: with white cable and plug (2.5 m) and on/off switch on the wall box, or for hardwiring with or without a switch on the wall box. E27 socket.
Protection rating: IP20, protection class II.
