The VL 45 RADIOHUS pendant lamp from Louis Poulsen celebrated its comeback in 2016 under the name VL45 Radiohus. Originally designed in the 1940s by Danish architect Vilhelm Lauritzen for the Danish broadcasting building "Radiohus" in Copenhagen, it still features the original design: a brass suspension and a shade made of three-layer, mouth-blown glass. The pendant lamp has an inner and outer layer of transparent, glossy glass, while the middle layer is made of white glass. In 2019, the series was extended with a smaller version to offer even more possibilities for versatile applications and arrangements.

What do these specifications mean?
- Light source – E14 / E27 / LED: E14 and E27 are screw fittings for standard, replaceable light bulbs; E14 is the small fitting, E27 the large one. With the LED versions, the light source is permanently built into the lamp, and the driver is housed in the canopy.
- D2W (Dim to Warm): When dimmed, the light not only becomes darker but also warmer – from 3000 K at full brightness down to 1800 K.
- 3000 K: warm white light with a fixed light colour, without Dim to Warm.
- Bluetooth: The lamp is operated wirelessly via smartphone or tablet (Casambi). A wireless wall switch (Casambi Xpress) is also available; in certain cases, existing switches can continue to be used via the Casambi 4CH push-button interface. This version cannot be dimmed with a conventional dimmer.
- DALI: Digital Addressable Lighting Interface, a standardised digital interface for lighting control. The lamp is switched and dimmed via a DALI control unit (e.g. from building or home automation systems). This control unit must be provided on-site.
- Phase dimming (wall switch): The lamp is dimmed directly via mains voltage using a dimmer at the wall switch – the usual solution in private households, without an additional control unit.

Light concept
The lamp produces an even and soft light. The opening at the bottom allows a focused downward beam. Thanks to the quality of the glass, the surface of the lamp appears evenly lit. It is suitable for both high and low mounting.
Please note that the brass finishes are untreated. This means the surface will change over time and develop a patina.
