Louis Poulsen VL 38 • wall light
Direct, focused light; the head swivels and turns sideways, so it can be aimed precisely. The white-lacquered inside of the shade diffuses the light pleasantly.
Design: Vilhelm Lauritzen
About the designer: Vilhelm Lauritzen (1894–1984) is regarded as a pioneer of functionalism in Denmark. His best-known buildings include the Radiohuset (1936–41), for which he also designed the lamps, and the first terminal at Copenhagen Airport Kastrup (1937–39). His lamps combine direct light with soft, diffused light; they have been part of the Louis Poulsen collection since the mid-1940s.
