Nanna and Jørgen Ditzel met at the School of Arts and Crafts and founded their joint studio in 1946; they had the confidence to push the boundaries of modern design. The ND55, from 1955, shows their playful approach to function. At first glance it is a simple sofa table – until you notice the pull-out extension leaf: it is lifted and slid towards the centre of the table, enlarging the surface exactly when more space is needed. The table is made by hand at the Carl Hansen & Søn manufactory in Denmark.
The table top and frame of the ND55 are made of solid wood, the fittings of brushed brass; the edges are gently rounded. The table is available in seven versions: soaped oak, clear lacquered, oiled, white oiled or black lacquered oak, as well as clear lacquered or oiled walnut.
Sustainability: this product is made from FSC™-certified wood and other controlled materials (FSC® C134744).
