Carl Hansen GL101 Timbur Bench
Designed in 2023, the Timbur garden bench is Gudmundur Ludvik's debut design for Carl Hansen & Søn. The Icelandic designer has a deep connection to nature and great respect for traditional craftsmanship. After training as a joiner and cabinetmaker, his desire to understand the inner workings of a design inspired a minimalist approach to his work. This is clearly expressed in the GL101 Timbur garden bench. Timbur means wood in Icelandic, and the minimalist bench in teak stands out through a harmonious design that combines calm simplicity with robust strength. Ludvik has reduced the modular, slender design to its purest essence, so that the focus falls entirely on the excellent joinery and the playful nature of the untreated teak, a durable hardwood that develops a beautiful patina through exposure to the weather. The generously sized outdoor bench has a gently sloped backrest and wide armrests that also serve as useful side tables, on which a cup or a small plate can be placed. The bench is the perfect spot for quiet reflection or conversation, and it suits many different types of outdoor spaces.
The GL101 is made in a single version: solid teak, untreated. It is available in two designs: free-standing or as the GL101-FM, which can be screwed to the floor. The CU GL101 seat cushion pad is available separately and is covered in Agora Life Oat 1760.
