With its slender frame and flowing, sculptural Shape, Hans J. Wegner's design for the CH71 Lounge Chair is testament to the legendary Danish designer's unique understanding of working with Wood and of good Upholstery. Designed in 1952, it carries all the hallmarks of the "master of chairs", including a seamless unity of form and function and a refined aesthetic that has remained contemporary across the decades. Wegner was not only a highly skilled furniture joiner but also had a thorough knowledge of various upholstery techniques, enabling him to conceive complex pieces that required expert craftsmanship. The CH71 Lounge Chair is one such design, with upholstered curves that nestle flawlessly against a slender, angular frame. The designer also placed great emphasis on the proportions of the lounge chair. The result is a streamlined piece of furniture that lends style and a soft touch even to the smallest of spaces. A wide range of fabrics is available in various colours and textures for the Cover, while the Legs and handles come in oak and walnut with various finish options.
The CH71 has solid-wood Legs and Armrests; the seat and Backrest are made of solid beech with foam padding. It is available in seven versions: soaped oak, clear-lacquered, oiled, white-oiled or black-lacquered oak, as well as clear-lacquered or oiled walnut. The Cover can be chosen from eight fabric groups; leather is not available for this model. The Seat cushion belongs with the chair and is always included in the order — it can be covered in the same eight fabric groups.
