The Brutus Coffee Table by 101 Copenhagen – also referred to as the Brutus coffee table, side table or living-room table – is a sculptural design object that unites art and function in perfect balance. Inspired by the brutalist architecture movement of the mid-20th century, the table stands for clear geometries, pared-back forms and architectural expressiveness.
The design by Kristian Sofus Hansen & Tommy Hyldahl combines monumental calm with the precision of craftsmanship. Every table in the Brutus series is made by experienced craftspeople – either from solid oak or from hand-painted fibre concrete. This choice of material makes the Brutus Coffee Table a piece of furniture with a unique feel and sculptural presence.
The wood versions (natural oak and Coffee Black Oak) rely on the timeless elegance and lively grain of FSC-certified American red oak, which retains its naturalness and warm character through the high-quality workmanship. The concrete versions (Coffee and Sand) impress with a striking, hand-painted surface that gives each piece an individual texture and subtle colour nuances.
Suitable for indoor & outdoor use
The fibre concrete versions are robust and weather-resistant and are therefore perfectly suited to outdoor use – whether on the terrace, by the pool or under a pergola. Please note: the table is not frost-proof and should be protected or covered in winter.
The oak versions, by contrast, bring natural warmth indoors and are ideal for modern living spaces with Scandinavian or minimalist interiors.
