Nishati, Swahili for energy
Warm colours and soft nuances take up the powerful energy of the sun and translate it into textile art. Fittingly, a Bantu proverb says: „The sun does not pass by any village.“ The short-pile rug consists of 35 % wool, 20 % nettle and 45 % silk.
Inspired by the landscapes and colours of Africa, Walter Knoll's rugs were created in collaboration with the textile designer Helmut Scheufele. Their expressiveness draws on the creative diversity of the African continent – translated into timeless, knotted works of art.
The rug is woven by hand and can be adapted individually to your wishes. You can determine the length and width entirely according to your personal ideas. So as not to restrict your choice with fixed dimensions, we ask you to contact our customer service for your order.
- Material: 45% silk, 35% wool, 20% nettle
- Knot density: 150,000 knots/square metre
- Weight per unit area: approx. 4.2 kg / m² (due to the manual production of the yarns and rugs, deviations of up to 10% are possible)
- Pile height (total): approx. 11 - 14 mm (due to the manual production and shearing of the rugs, localised deviations of up to 10% are possible)
