Natural materials such as bentwood and cane weave, the shape reduced to the essentials: the 119 chair by Sebastian Herkner is a typical Thonet product. Whether as a single piece or in pairs in the living room as an elegant complement to a sofa, in the lounge areas of hotel lobbies or new-work settings, the 119 sets accents in a wide variety of scenarios. A wide, slightly inclined backrest and a deep seat surface, angled at 5.5 degrees, invite a relaxed sitting position. If even more comfort is desired, an additional seat cushion can optionally be attached to the rear legs of the lounger. The design evolved organically from the successful Programme 118. The shape of the chair legs, rounded at the back and marked by slight edges at the front, echoes the horseshoe-shaped base of the seat. A bentwood frame encloses the seat surface in both the 119 and the 118 collection, which is available with a cane weave upholstery or a shell seat. The chair is offered in various stain colours and high-gloss finishes.
The THONET 119 PA cushion pad is the additional seat cushion for the 119 lounge chair. It is attached to the rear legs of the lounger and increases seating comfort. The cushion pad is available in the fabric and leather qualities of the Thonet collection. The webbing straps come in black, anthracite, dark grey, beige and light grey.

Shell seat: The shell seat is a seat surface made of moulded plywood, which is slightly recessed towards the centre instead of being flat. This means you sit somewhat within the surface rather than just on it: the weight is distributed better, and you don't slide forward. More comfortable than a flat wooden board – and entirely without cushioning. The "M" in the model name stands for this, for example in 214 M or 118 M.
