THONET chair, cantilever, stackable, with armrests • Programme S 61 ST
Restrained elegance combined with high seating comfort: with the S 60, Glen Oliver Löw succeeded in reinterpreting the cantilever chair and developing a contemporary solution. The seat shell in moulded plywood is connected to the tubular steel frame via the armrests. Recesses in the back provide a pleasant seating climate and visual articulation. The armrests, coated in a soft plastic, taper towards the back, where they connect to the seat shell. The diameter of the tubular steel is reduced to a minimum, giving this comfortable chair an elegant, light and clear appearance.
The cantilever chair S 61 ST has a seat shell in moulded plywood, connected to the chrome-plated tubular steel frame via the armrests; the armrest pads are made of elastomer plastic and are available in nappa leather at an extra cost. It is available in two upholstery versions: with comfort upholstery, where the beech shell remains visible, or as fully upholstered comfort upholstery. With comfort upholstery, the surface finish is beech I as standard; further stain shades, oak and lightened oak are available at an extra cost. The chair is 94 cm high, the seat height is 46 cm, and the armrest height is 65 cm. The chairs are stackable. POM plastic glides and felt glides are available at an extra cost.

Full upholstery: With full upholstery, the seat shell is covered all round with fabric or leather, including the back. The wood surface is then no longer visible. This gives the chair a softer, calmer and more homely feel than the mirror-polished version.
Comfort upholstery: Comfort upholstery is a particularly elaborate upholstery construction: depending on the model, a fine non-woven layer is additionally sewn in. This makes the cushion feel softer to sit on and, at the same time, more durable, as the cover is loaded more evenly.
Elastomer plastic: Elastomers are plastics that retain their shape but yield slightly under pressure. Thonet uses them for the armrest pads: they feel pleasantly warm — unlike bare metal — give a little when leaning on them, and are very resistant to daily use.
