THONET chair, stackable • S 264 range
The S 260 meets the strict standards of modern large-space seating as well as aesthetic demands for contemporary design. Its special feature is the simplified ganging mechanism, which allows uncomplicated row connections. Large spaces can be used particularly economically thanks to the space-saving connection and the option of stacking the chair vertically. These properties give the S 260, available with or without Armrests, essential advantages when it comes to floor space. The S 260 can be connected into rows intelligently and without tools. Thanks to the special construction of the Frames, the chairs barely need to be lifted for this, allowing very quick ganging. In accordance with DIN 14703, the S 260 meets all requirements for row seating – including panic-release safety. A stacking trolley is also available for easy handling.
The S 264 is the high-Backrest version – 93 cm overall height – without Armrests. Its shell is made of moulded plywood and rests on a chrome-plated four-legged Frame of tubular steel. Four versions are available: unupholstered (S 264), with mirror Upholstery on the seat (S 264 SP), with mirror Upholstery on seat and back (S 264 P), or fully upholstered (S 264 PV). In the fully upholstered version, no Wood is visible; all other versions are finished in Beech I. Plastic Glides are included as standard, felt Glides are available at extra cost; the version with Armrests is called the S 264 F.

Mirror upholstery: With mirror upholstery, only the inside is upholstered – precisely the area on which you sit and lean back. The back of the Seat shell remains visible in Wood or plastic. This keeps the chair light and slender while still gaining noticeably in seating comfort.
Full upholstery: With full upholstery, the Seat shell is covered all round with Fabric or leather, including the back. The Wood surface is then no longer visible. This gives the chair a softer, calmer and more homely appearance than the mirror upholstery version.
Row connection: Gangable chairs can be joined side by side into fixed chair rows without tools. This is required wherever large numbers of people sit together: in halls, churches, canteens or conference rooms. The Thonet connection is patented and meets the DIN EN 14703 standard for row seating, including panic-release safety – in an emergency, the row can be cleared quickly and safely.
