Louis Poulsen PH 3/2 • table lamp
The PH 3/2 table lamp from Louis Poulsen is made of mouth-blown, three-layer white opal glass. It emits a soft, harmonious and pleasant light, predominantly downwards. Poul Henningsen used his celebrated three-shade system as the basis for this luminaire, which he developed in 1925 in order to create glare-free light.
The first luminaire to use this three-shade system was designed in collaboration with Louis Poulsen for the World Exhibition in Paris in the same year and was awarded gold. Building on this system, Henningsen developed further designs that achieved an even distribution of light. The numbers in the names of the PH luminaires indicate the size of the shades. The upper shade of the PH 3/2 table lamp has a diameter of about 30 cm, while the lower shades come from the 2/2 version.

Lighting concept: the luminaire is based on the principle of a reflecting three-shade system that directs most of the light downwards. Its shades are made of mouth-blown, opalised, three-layer glass, glossy on the outside and matt sandblasted on the inside. This creates a soft and diffuse distribution of light.
