Ethnicraft BRUTALIST side table
Ethnicraft Brutalist side table
The Brutalist side table by Ethnicraft combines a powerful, architectural design language with the natural warmth of solid mahogany. Its striking silhouette and the deliberately cut-out openings create an engaging interplay of solid surfaces and negative space and give the table a sculptural and at the same time functional presence.
The Brutalist side table was designed by Alain van Havre. Characteristic of the design is the balance between weight and lightness: the solid wooden body appears present and powerful, while the cut-in openings give the piece visual depth and a particular architectural dynamic.
Its compact dimensions make the Brutalist side table ideal beside a sofa or lounge chair. The rectangular surface offers room for drinks, books, lamps or decorative accessories. At the same time, its expressive design makes the table work as an independent design object in the room.
The warm Rose Brown colouring brings out the natural grain of the mahogany and gives the piece additional depth. The combination of a strong silhouette, warm wood colour and hand-worked construction makes the Brutalist side table a characterful accent for modern, architecturally minded living areas.
Material
The Brutalist side table is made entirely from solid mahogany. The mahogany used is the species Swietenia macrophylla from Indonesia. The wood is given a Rose Brown colouring and finished with a protective polyurethane lacquer. This treatment emphasises the natural grain and the warm shade of the wood while protecting the surface against everyday wear.
