Stefan Diez has designed a wooden chair programme that references our bentwood heritage while transforming it according to aesthetic and technological criteria. Curved chair legs and armrests converge in a "knot" and are set into the ergonomically shaped seat surface from below. With its striking contrast between the elegantly curved wood elements and the pronounced upholstery, the programme conveys comfort and delivers it too: it does not dictate a particular sitting position, and the organically shaped backrest gives pleasantly under load.
The THONET 404 H is the wooden bar stool of the programme. It stands on a three-legged frame made of laminated wood and carries a seat made of moulded plywood. The surface is oak, clear-lacquered, lightened or stained. Plastic glides are included; felt glides are available for an additional charge. The seat height is 77 cm.
