With the 808, the Munich design studio Formstelle has developed a lounge chair that combines maximum comfort with numerous options for customisation. The chair plays with the contrast between a protective shell and openness. In its surroundings, it offers a place of retreat and calm. Its characteristic appearance results from a consistent reinterpretation of the classic wing chair – the upper back section is reminiscent of a protective collar. The shell embraces the person sitting in it and conveys a sense of security. The second distinctive feature is the comfortable upholstery, reminiscent of waves. The inside, with its loose cushion look, stands in exciting contrast to the smooth outer shell. An intelligent adjustment mechanism also allows the user to adapt the chair individually. The compact lounge chair 809 is the "little brother" of the successful lounge chair 808 and serves as a retreat in smaller rooms as well as in groups, combined with the larger chair or the low side tables 1808 and 1809. For the 809 chair, a Kolleg board is optionally available as a surface for storage or writing. The programme is rounded off with a footstool. For extra comfort, a neck cushion can be added. An integrated counterweight allows flexible positioning, so that the head of the person sitting is ideally supported. Available in numerous covers – from fabric to leather – the cushion sets visual accents in contrasting colours or blends harmoniously into the embracing seat shell of the comfortable lounger.
The THONET 808 lounge chair stands on a frame made of flat steel in a stainless steel look; flat steel in deep black RAL 9005 is available at an extra charge. The shell is fitted with relaxed comfort upholstery, whose cushion look contrasts with the smooth outer shell. The outer shell and inner cover are selected separately, in fabric or leather. Plastic glides are included, felt glides are available at an extra charge. The programme includes the compact lounge chair 809, the 808 H stool and the 808 PA neck cushion.

Comfort upholstery: Comfort upholstery is a particularly elaborate upholstery construction: depending on the model, a fine non-woven layer is additionally sewn in. This makes the upholstery softer to sit on and, at the same time, more durable, as the cover is loaded more evenly.
Relaxed comfort upholstery: Relaxed comfort upholstery is the softer, more casual variant of comfort upholstery. Its cover is deliberately not taut, but falls into gentle waves – this is intentional and part of the character of this upholstery, as are seat impressions that remain visible after standing up. Those who prefer a smooth, taut look should choose the normal comfort upholstery.
