Upholstered sofas have always been an example of Italian excellence. RODA reinvents the idea of the sofa with the introduction of the first “total outdoor” upholstered sofa. The weather resistance of upholstery is usually at odds with comfort and beauty. RODA resolves this difficulty through the use of 3 different polyurethanes which, combined in a 3D mesh, form an “air cushion”. The upholstery is fixed to a lightweight structure by hard-wearing elastic straps. This structure consists of aluminium and 304 stainless steel small parts and is coated with a polyester lacquer to guarantee durability. Thanks to the adjustable feet, the sofa can be placed on any surface. The removable DANDY covers are attached to the structure with invisible hook-and-loop strips.
The original design by Rodolfo Dordoni emphasises the pronounced rectilinear geometry of the timeless Roda Double collection, which extends the range of upholstered sofas with a new “total outdoor” version. Aluminium, light and resistant at the same time, is outstandingly suited to the Double lounge furniture frame, which is covered with soft upholstery in combination with a permeable 3D mesh. The Double collection shows a successful combination of natural and high-technology materials, perfectly suited to creating original outdoor solutions. The careful execution of the Double garden furniture is also expressed in the precise selection of certain details. For the Double and Dandy upholstery collections, an open-cell polyurethane of different densities is used to provide perfect seating comfort. The 3D mesh gives the product a pleasant, complete look, even without a cushion cover. The mesh offers not only a pleasant surface but also very good technical performance: on the visible side the fabric is more open and allows water to drain away better, on the inner side it is somewhat more closed and improves the hold of the cushion without impairing drainage and drying. Thanks to the three different polyurethane densities, the seat cushions act like a genuine “air cushion” and guarantee absolute comfort and breathability. On the back of the seat cushions, which are removable for normal care, there is a non-slip drainage mesh for water run-off, which allows the cushion to ventilate and prevents it from slipping forwards. The back sections can be joined to the seat cushions using a quick bayonet fastening. In addition, a “crossover” assembly is possible between seat and back module. This allows several modules to be joined to one backrest and makes numerous combinations possible.
