About the designer
In 1926 Poul Henningsen (1894–1967) developed his three-shade system based on the logarithmic spiral – functional and entirely glare-free light that gave rise to a whole series of iconic PH lights. He was at once designer, architect, cultural critic and poet, and designed lighting for Tivoli (1941) and the Langelinie Pavilion (1958) in Copenhagen, among others. His lifelong collaboration with Louis Poulsen shapes the company to this day.
