Sebastian Herkner, one of the up-and-coming young German design talents, has interpreted barefoot luxury in a unique way with his concept for the MBRACE collection. A woven seat shell is placed on a solid teak base – a successful new combination of materials in the DEDON portfolio. The result is a collection comprising a high-back chair, an armchair, a rocking chair and a footstool. Nomen est omen – and so the MBRACE collection stands entirely for the invitation contained in its name. With its extra-wide back, the armchair offers a feeling of warm, comforting security – like an embrace.
The MBRACE collection consists of a mix of materials: the seats are made of DEDON fibre woven onto an aluminium frame. The base frames are made of high-quality teak, which is rich in natural tannins and therefore has an extremely long service life even in extreme weather conditions. If this wood is exposed to the weather naturally, its golden colour changes to an even silver-grey. Clean the wood with lukewarm water and the addition of a gentle natural soap. The cushions are quilted to support the soft wadding filling. The cushion covers can therefore not be removed, but the complete cushions can be hand-washed at 30°C. The stool cushion is fitted with cushion holders that prevent it from slipping. The cover serves only to protect the seats and the cushions.
DEDON fibre is not only extremely weather-resistant and unaffected by cold, heat, sun, rain or snow, it also has exceptional colour and structural stability and is impervious to chlorinated and salt water.
