Carl Hansen CH37 Chair with Armrests
The CH37 Dining Chair, designed by Hans J. Wegner in 1962, is clearly inspired by the furniture principles of the American Shakers – simplicity, functionality and craftsmanship. The CH37 also shows many carefully considered details, characteristic of Wegner's style. The chair's light, elegant appearance comes from the vertical round Legs and a Backrest that curves backwards – slightly more at the top than at the bottom – to provide the best possible support for the back. The hand-woven seat made of paper cord and the gently rounded, flat Armrests – fixed with a distinctive cap on the front Legs – provide comfort and durability.
The CH37 is the Version with Armrests; without Armrests, the same chair carries the model number CH36. It is available in nine Versions: soaped, lacquered, oiled or coloured lacquered beech, and soaped, lacquered, oiled, white oiled or black lacquered oak. The paper cord is available in natural and black, and a Seat cushion in leather is available at an additional cost.
